Stop making me feel bad

Today we went into MFS for an anatomy scan. Things were going okay until the Dr. came in.   She wanted to review all previous tests and the current ultrasounds.  Beta#2 has a little extra calcium in the heart. She says that this is quite common and found in 20% of all fetuses with no issue.  And this is extra common in Asians.

However, it can also be an indicator of down syndrome. She does note that the other 6-7 things and test show that Beta#2 likely does not have down syndrome. I’m like okay. This is likely nothing then. But she asks me, ” Is there any Asian in your background” Ummmm. I wanted to say, “Are you blind or can’t read?” After all, I’m 100% Vietnamese, its pretty obvious. And if you are not looking at me, you are looking at my chart. I checked the Asian box!!!!

Even after confirming that I’m Asian she is still trying to sell me on an Amniocentesis. NO!

The she offered another 2-3 test which we all declined.

Then she says, btw, you had extra protein in your urine. And that can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. What?? That is a big deal. Or apparently it can be a UTI.  Stop scaring me!!! You couldn’t lead with that?  Anyway, I’m not sure why their dip test showed high protein. I was at my regular OBs office the day before and the dip test was fine. So she insist on sending a culture off to check if its a UTI. Fine. You get that one test.
